206 HDI Car Crash 28/29/2011

Wow yes you guessed it, "No One Hurt"

The daughter had a lady pull out of a junction today in front of her and caused her to crash her car.

The Front Wing, Headlight, Bumper, Bonnet, Radiator (Water + Aircon)  are all visibly damaged.

The car has now been towed back home and awaiting an insurance inspection to verify if it is finantialy viable to fix or to right off as it is only a 2002 plate.

My house it starting to look like a Scrap Yard ……….

Daughter should get a courtesy car tomorrow so let’s see what happens next.

It’s been a rough week........

Rest In Piece Jessie You Will Always Be Part Of Our Family 26/09/2011

Today was a very sad day for everyone in our family, We decided it was time for our  lovely old Golden Retriever ( Jessie ) to finish his fight against the affects of old age.

You have been part of our family for 15 years and have had many great times to remember you by.

Today was so sad as I watched to slip away so peacefully wile I held and stroked you.

All the pain has now ended for you and I hope you rest peacefully.

You have a lovely resting place in our garden and we will see you every time we are outside.

Miss you loads and thank you for being part of our family

B&Q Discount Card ( Beware of 10% Saving ) can be a 5 % Cost Increase

Today I madee a purchase of a number of items totalling £300+  that I was going to use my discount card on for a 10% Reduction.

Luckily the till was managed by a young lady who scanned in all the goods and actually told us the Total Cost.

Because at this point I had not passed over the discount card the cashier just told me the total cost and was awaiting for my payment.

I gave her my B&Q Discount card expecting to get a reduction of 10% but the actual cost went up.

Now I only noticed this as she had actually told me the total amount before I gave her the card.

The Cashier recommended that I did not use my discount card as is was putting the cost of my goods up by 5%

Now this is what had happened

On the day of Saturday 24/09/2011 B&Q had a special offer on of 15% off all purchased over £150

My 10% B&Q Discount card could not be used in addition the 15% offer currently on promotion.

But instead of the system actually reporting this, what actually happened was the Card discount of 10% took priority over the 15% offer and actually put the cost of my purchase up by 5%

Luckily we picked this up purely because the cashier had actually stated the total cost verbally and noticed the final cost had gone up.

If we had been on one of the new self service tills that are slowly being forced on the customer by large companys like B&Q and Morrison’s Etc  this issue may have been completely missed and we would have paid 5% more

Morel

Beware of discounts conflicts and ensure they actually reflect the amount your expecting to obtain.

I personally believe B&Q should have put some sort of computer warning on the system to notify a warning to the customer and the cashier about this situation and recommend  the best option to the customer.

They could have even just ensured the highest discount took Priority and we would probably not have even noticed. If it had of been a bigger saving that we thought we would have probably been very happy thinking we had got an even better deal.

I wonder how many people may have missed this situation.

Luckily we picked it up, More by a chain of situations than awareness.

Disaster! Expanding Foam All over neighbours UPVC Door ( How removed it )

Today I had one of those experiences you do not want to experience to often.
I was using some expanding foam on my extension inside and I had about 1/4 can left that i needed to use up.

Outside on the front of my extension, I had a gap on the Fascia Board I thought I could fill and use up the last of the foam in the can.
Now this is where my Sunday turned into one of those embarrassing heart sinking moments.

I climbed the ladder inserted the expanding foam nozzle down the side of the Fascia Board.
The foam expanded as expected but I did not take into account the wind blowing as it was a little blustery.

Now this is what happened.............

As the foam expanded it began to bulge out of the Fascia Board, This was fine as I had planned on it just falling on the floor if any excess protruded on my property..

This is not what happened................

I watched the wind blow a large lump of the expanding foam. To my horror it disappeared over my neighbour’s wall. I quickly hopped over wall crossing my fingers and looked at their UPVC Porch and door

You guessed it.  The lump of foam had been blown onto the top of their door area and had spread all down the Window, Door, Door Handel,  Cladding and even all over the door bell button and ended up on the floor just outside the door.

Now if you have ever used this stuff you will understand the fix I was in.

Please visit my homepage to see pictures and find out how I managed to clean the Expanding foam off the UPVC Door.
